Better late than never

So after a flying visit to the university yesterday and really panicking the nice man who looks after Erasmus there I was told that he would see what gave and who might have space.

This morning I recieved an email saying that with the help of a certain blonde german lecturer they had managed to get Konstanz University to agree to take me, despite their deadline being the 15th June.  It involves getting the entire process fininshed in a week but, hey its like running for a train, right?

This experience leads me to give Rhys' Erasmus tip #1:
  • Find out when the deadlines are.
The work placements people may tell you that you have all the time in the world and your personal tutor may tell you that "there's always Erasmus" but find out when the deadlines are so you know when to give up on the job market by (think early June, not that it will make the staff organising it like you too much more).  The international sections of the Universities' websites or the department are where to go.

So now I find myself filling in paperwork and writng a date 4 days later than the deadline which is clealy stated on the form and running into that form filling conundrum which seems to cross every national and language barrier "what do they want here?".  Regardless, I'm on my way somewhere, which is 100% better than I was doing this time yesterday, or at any point in the last 12 months.
